Harvest is such a magical time of year and the 2006 season is officially underway! On Thursday September 21st we
harvested the upper block of our home Chardonnay vineyard. Even though our vineyard is only 1 acre in size, we take
the extra effort of harvesting it in two passes to make sure that all of the fruit is of optimal ripeness. We will harvest
the remaining portion approximately 2 to 3 weeks down the road. All in all, while the fruit is looking as great as ever, we
were also able to get more fruit off of the upper block than we were able to get off of the whole vineyard in 2005. This
is good news for everyone...it means that we will have more of our 2006 Jenkins Vineyard Chardonnay available than
previous vintages.
We also harvested the Madden Ranch Syrah in Livermore on Monday September 25th. Only 1 week into the harvest season,
we have already brought into the winery over 1/3 of our expected fruit for the year. We now are able to look forward
to guiding these grapes to become memorable wines that we will be able to share with all of our loyal customers.
