2005 Black Ridge Vineyards Syrah - 90+ pts. Robert Parker
In the June 2008 issue of Wine Advocate, Robert Parker reviewed our 2005 Santa Cruz Mountains Syrah, Black Ridge Vineyards and gave it a rating of 90+ pts! He notes ãBeautiful density along with elegant structure and purity characterize this medium to full-bodied Syrah. It offers up notes of spring flowers, blackberries, cassis, and a hint of wet stones in a refreshingly zesty yet substantial style. Possessing both elegance and power, this impressive effort from the Santa Cruz Mountains should drink well for a decade.ä

We only produced 183 cases of this magnificent wine, and have less than 10 cases left for sale in the Tasting Room and online. Click here to get your order in before we sell out.

2006 Madden Ranch Syrah Release - August 1st
We sold out of the 2005 vintage of Madden Ranch Syrah a few months ago, and now it is finally time for the 2006 vintage to be released. Starting on August 1st this wine will be available online and in our Tasting Room.

Winemaker Greg Jenkins notes: ãSwirling a glass of the deeply purple colored 2006 Madden Ranch Syrah releases intense aromas of blueberry and blackberry with notes of smoked meat, cedar, leather, vanilla and brown sugar. Tastes reveal ripe dark fruit with hints of black pepper, roasted coffee bean, caramel and smoky oak. The Madden Ranch Syrah finishes with vibrant fruit that is integrated with the ample tannins and generous acidity.ä

Vineyard Update
This year sure is flying by fast! In less than 2 months we will be in the midst of the 2008 harvest season. The grapes are set, and now it is up to Mother Nature to cooperate and continue the ripening. While we have been monitoring the vineyards throughout the whole growing season, starting within the next month or so it will be crucial to do weekly trips to all of our vineyards that we source fruit from. The date that the grapes are picked is probably the most important decision to make in the overall winemaking process, and we are very diligent about making sure we have as much information as possible to make those decisions.

The Nord family who farm the vineyards that we purchase all of the fruit from for our Napa Valley ãChoreographyä were filmed in May for a new proposed wine country reality show called ãCRUSHä. Click here to see the ãsizzle reelä of CRUSH on YouTube and to see our ãextended familyä in action.
