Our 2005 wines are neatly tucked away in barrel now, where they are completing the last of primary fermentation, and
undergoing malolactic (secondary) fermentation as well. Each time that we taste through the barrels we are more and
more pleased. The wines are developing nicely, the French oak is beginning to integrate with the wine tannins, and the
overall flavors are melding.
Our 2004 Bordeaux Blend is also tasting great. We did our initial blend of the 5 major Bordeaux varietals (Cabernet
Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Petit Verdot) in August to allow time for all of the wines to marry
together into a wonderful blend. This wine is set to be bottled early in the summer of 2006 after nearly 21 months in
barrel, and will be released later this year.
We are also planning to bottle our 2004 Livermore Valley Madden Ranch Syrah as well as our 2004 Santa Cruz
Mountains Syrah in mid-February, so be on the look out for those wines in the upcoming months as well.
