Vineyard Update
While most people wouldnât think so, this is actually a very important time of year in the vineyard. At our home Chardonnay vineyard we had the middles of the rows shanked 30ä down, and then added gypsum and compost to to increase the organic structure and calcium in our mountainous soil. Pruning was finished a few weeks back, and bud break is bound to happen any time now·if it werenât for the cold weather in the middle of February it would probably be well on its way. By paying careful attention to the individual vines now and throughout the year, we are able to help them to produce an exceptional harvest next Fall.
Next monthâs newsletter will feature Peggyâs analysis of the recent Olympic Winter Games and her announcement of a special event for our Wine Club Members (bring your ice skates!).
Best Regards,
Greg & Peggy
